Launching · picks kept fresh daily

Which AI tool should you use for this?

Name the job. JobToTool names the two or three tools worth using right now — an honest verdict, the price, and the date we last checked. Organised by the task, not by whoever has the loudest launch thread.

  • By the job. A trailer, a deploy, an agent that answers support email. The list follows the work.
  • Dated. An agent watches X for new releases. Every pick wears a last-checked date, including when it is stale.
  • Not for sale. No pay-to-rank. A sponsored slot, if we run one, is labelled and sits apart from the picks.

Format sample

This is the shape of an answer. Not a live pick.

These cards are mockups of the format. The tool names are stand-ins. Nothing here was tested, priced, or checked, and none of it is a recommendation.

Make a trailer for my indie game

  1. Motionframe

Sample verdict Strong if you already have key art and need a short cut. Weak when the trailer has to carry dialogue.

  2. Storyboarder

Sample verdict Useful for the shot list. Not where the picture gets finished.

  3. Cutbench

Sample verdict The cheap way to assemble shots you already have. Clumsy at generating them.

Deploy my vibe-coded Next.js app

  1. Launchpad

Sample verdict Least setup if the app is already an ordinary Next.js project. Awkward if you depend on a custom server.

  2. Plainhost

Sample verdict A boring host you already understand. Not an AI tool, which is sometimes the right answer.

Build an AI agent that answers support email

  1. Inboxagent

Sample verdict Closest fit when the inbox is the product. You still write the rule that says not to invent a refund.

Sample verdict Better if you already live in a help desk and want a draft, not an auto-send.

Who it's for

People shipping with AI this week.

Vibe coders

You got a Next.js app standing over a weekend. The next job is deploying it, not collecting another dozen tools.

Indie game devs

Trailer, key art, dialogue, store page. The job is specific, so the short list should be too.

Agent builders

Support email, research, a tool that calls your tools. You want the current pick, not last quarter's thread.

How the list works

Honest, fresh, and not a slot machine.

Honest verdicts

Plain English on what a tool is good at, and the catch. A pick can say "don't".

Freshness

An agent watches X for releases. The date on a pick is the point. If we have not looked, the date says so.

No pay-to-rank

Money does not move a tool up the list. Sponsored slots stay labelled, and they are not mixed into the picks.

FAQ

Before you leave the job.

What is JobToTool?

A short guide for one question: which AI tool should I use for this job? You describe the work. The answer is two or three tools, each with a verdict, the price, and the date we last checked. It is organised by the task, not by a catalog of products.

Who is it for?

Vibe coders, indie game developers, and people building AI agents. If you are choosing a tool for a specific job this week, this is the list.

How does a pick stay current?

An agent watches X for new releases and model launches, and the verdict gets updated when the answer changes. Every pick shows when it was last checked. Freshness is the product, so a stale date is shown rather than hidden.

Can a company pay to rank?

No. Picks are not for sale. If we ever run a sponsored slot, it is labelled as sponsored and kept separate from the picks. Paying does not change the order.

What happens to my email and the job I type?

The email is for the free weekly note. The job is demand research: it tells us which tasks to write up first. We also store the referring page, when your browser sends one, and the time you signed up. We do not sell the list. Details are on the privacy page.

What is the weekly email?

A short note on what shipped and whether it is worth switching the tool you already use. It is not a vendor's tool of the week.

When does the guide open?

Not yet. The waitlist is how you get the weekly note and first look. The cards above are format samples, not the guide.
